Samsung and Apple no longer give you a charger with the Samsung galaxy S21 / S21 Ultra and Apple iPhone 12 / 12 Pro / 12 Pro Max, claiming that the reason behind it is to save the environment through the reduction of plastic waste. This has created a domino effect with other companies following their lead. On top of that, we have also silently lost the in ear headphones for the same reasons.
Mrwhosetheboss has released another eye opening video on this matter and as it turns out, it looks like these companies are actually creating more plastic waste by selling these accessories separately and this is just based on packaging alone.
Some research has also proven that wireless charging like Magsafe flows in the opposite direction of eco-friendliness. Not only do you have to buy it separately in its own box, but it doesn’t come with the proper charger in order to get the right speeds from it. In addition, it takes about 47% more energy to charge a device because of all the layers that energy has to be transferred through, thus creating excess heat or energy.
This is the nature of business, but do you think it is right that these companies are turning a profit at the expense of making us believe that these decisions are for the sake of eco-friendliness?
